Last year was fraught with a number of unexpected celebrity breakups that left fans utterly heartbroken. Particularly painful was the split between Chris Pratt and Anna Faris, who were married for eight years before announcing their separation in August of 2017.

Unfortunately, it does seem like 2018 is off to an even hotter start, with dozens of celebrity couples calling it quits within just the last few months. Much like the Pratt/Faris split, many were shocked to recently hear that Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have also decided to go their separate ways. The pair come across as one of the happiest and most down-to-earth couples in show business.

While the divorce rate is already alarmingly high in the United States, the marriage success rate is even bleaker in Hollywood, where excessive fame and fortune can put an undue amount of strain on any relationship.

Although breakups are nothing to look forward to, they can still help spur a certain amount of individual growth and allow each party to refocus on where their priorities are at beyond their love lives. Let’s take a look at the celebrities who have recently reentered the single life.

Here are 15 Stars You Didn’t Know Were On The Market Again In 2018.

15. Julie Bowen

Best known for playing Claire Dunphy on the ABC sitcom Modern Family, actress Julie Bowen made headlines last month when she filed for divorce from her husband, Scott Phillips.

Phillips, who is a real estate developer, has been married to the actress for 13 years and together they have three sons together, one 10-year-old and two 8-year-old twins, who the actress was actually pregnant with while filming season one of Modern Family.

Recently, it was reported that Phillips is also seeking alimony from Bowen, who is one of the highest paid TV actresses working today with an estimated pay of $500,000 per episode — which is expected to continue for the show’s tenth and final season.

With all of this news just starting to come out, Bowen has yet to speak out about the split or what it’s like to be newly single.

14. Amber Heard

After reconciling at the end of 2017, it appears as though Elon Musk and Amber Heard have once again decided to split up.

The Justice League actress and Tesla CEO were first romantically linked back in 2016 – right when both were going through messy breakups.

While Heard’s split with Johnny Depp was widely publicized, Musk was going through a divorce of his own with Westworld actress Talulah Riley — which happened to be Musk’s third divorce - and second from Riley.

Suffice it to say, both Musk and Heard don’t seem to have the best luck when it comes to love.

Of course, with Heard reprising her role as Mera in the upcoming Aquaman and Musk planning to have people living on Mars by 2024, both celebrities seem like they’ll have plenty to keep themselves busy despite no longer being together.

13. Jennifer Lawrence

After a year of dating, Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and writer/ director Darren Aronofsky ended up going their separate ways late last year.

The two met while working on Aronofksy’s latest picture, mother!, which polarized critics but once again earned Lawrence critical acclaim.

The two had a relatively low-profile romance, keeping largely out of the public eye aside from red carpet events and the occasional walk around New York.

This came as a drastic change from Lawrence’s former relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. Meanwhile, Aronofsky had previously been in a longterm relationship with actress Rachel Weisz, who appeared in the director’s 2006 film The Fountain.

Lawrence said of their relationship: “I was doing double duty of trying to be a supportive partner while also being like, ‘Can I please, for the love of God, not think about mother! for one second?’”

12. Bill Hader

Former SNL cast member and star of 2015’s Trainwreck, Bill Hader officially filed for divorce from his wife of 11 years at the end of 2017.

The comedic actor is married to Maggie Carey, who has directed a number of TV episodes, including Silicon Valley, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, as well as the 2013 comedy The To Do List, in which her ex-husband and Aubrey Plaza co-starred.

The couple first met in Los Angeles through a mutual acquaintance before they ended up tying the knot in 2006. They have three daughters together, with the most recent one born in 2014.

Hader reportedly cited irreconcilable as the reason for the separation, which began back in July of last year. He is also seeking joint custody of their children.

11. Rosario Dawson

Even after Rosario Dawson publicly confirmed that she was dating Eric Andre on Valentine’s Day of last year, many still required photographic evidence before believing that actress’s Instagram post wasn’t just a prank.

While Dawson has starred in a number of action and comedy blockbusters, Andre is probably best-known for his bizarre and off-putting antics as the host of his show on Adult Swim.

While the two may not have seemed like an obvious match, they appeared very much in love as the year progressed, with Dawson saying that Andre even took care of her after the actress underwent emergency surgery for a ruptured ovarian cyst.

However, after being together for over a year, the couple broke up late in 2017, and since then it doesn’t seem like either star has reentered the world of public dating.

10. Jesse Williams and Minka Kelly

Grey’s Anatomy actor Jesse Williams and Friday Night Lights star Minka Kelly ended up going their separate ways in January of this year after only a few months of dating.

The relationship between the two TV stars began just three months after Williams separated from Aryn Drake-Lee, his wife of six years. Williams and Drake-Lee had a 13-year relationship together before they separated, as well as two young children.

Despite the new relationship firing up shortly after the married couple split, both Williams and Kelly have vehemently denied rumors of infidelity, with Williams even addressing the matter in Jay-Z’s short film Footnotes for 4:44.

The star couple is thought to have first met early last year while working on a video game together. Outside of fending off cheating rumors, both Williams and Kelly have been mostly silent about their short-lived relationship and subsequent breakup.

9. Sarah Silverman and Michael Sheen

Sarah Silverman has never been shy about addressing her breakups head-on, as she did by appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! following her widely publicized breakup with the late-night host.

The same has been the case with her latest split from Masters of Sex actor Michael Sheen.

The two met on the set of the popular Showtime drama when Silverman had a 7-episode arc playing Helen Schiff, and the couple went on to have a four-year relationship.

Silverman took to Twitter to confirm the breakup allegations, saying there was no fight, and “We just live in different countries and it got hard.”

Sheen is originally from Wales and, much like Silverman, is politically active, which requires him to be in the U.K. if he wants to make a serious difference.

8. Claire Foy

The Crown actress Claire Foy announced last month that she was separating from her husband of four-years, Stephen Campbell.

Though the news may have come as a shock to some that the relatively young couple was splitting up, Foy released a statement that the two had actually been separated for some time now – meaning that a finalized divorce seems more than likely in the near future.

While her husband is also a British-born actor, Campbell hasn’t shared the same success as Foy, who achieved critical acclaim for her portrayal as Queen Elizabeth II on Netflix’s The Crown.

The two have one daughter together born in 2015. With this split seemingly in the works for some time, it may not be long before Foy ventures out into the dating world.

7. Rebecca Gayheart and Eric Dane

After 14 years of marriage together, actors Rebecca Gayheart and Eric Dane have decided to go their separate ways.

The news broke just earlier this year when the 46-year-old model and actress filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences while seeking joint custody of their two daughters.

While Gayheart is best known for her roles in cult favorites Jawbreaker, Scream 2, and Dead Like Me, Dane is best known for appearing as Dr. Mark Sloan (AKA McSteamy) on the hit ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.

In a joint statement, the couple said that “ending out marriage is the best decision for our family” and that “we will continue our friendship and work as a team to co-parent our two beautiful girls as they are the most important thing in the world to us.”

6. Common

Yet another relationship casualty of 2018, rapper Common has split with his girlfriend, CNN political commentator Angela Rye.

While Common has been linked to a number of high profile women romantically over the years, including Kerry Washington, Laura Dern, and Serena Williams, this most recent pairing seemed like the perfect match considering that both Common and Rye are avid social and political activists.

The two were first spotted together in the summer of last year, appearing at various red carpet events. However, Rye was notably absent from this year’s Academy Awards, where Common performed the song “Stand Up for Something”, which he co-wrote for the film Marshall.

Thankfully, it seems like there is no bad blood between the two as the venture back out into the single world, with Rye maintaining that “we have and will always be friends.”

5. Tricia Helfer

It looks as though 43-year-old model turned actress Tricia Helfer is back on the market after filing for divorce from her husband of 13 years.

Helfer is a Canadian actress who first achieved widespread recognition for her portrayal of Cylon Number Six on the sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica from 2004 to 2009.

She currently appears on the Fox series Lucifer, where she plays the character of Charlotte Richards. The show is based on the comic book series The Sandman and the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Mike Dringenberg, and Sam Kieth. It is currently in its third season.

Helfer allegedly claimed irreconcilable differences as the reason for divorcing her husband, Jonathan Marshall — a lawyer whom the actress original met at a mutual friend’s birthday party before marrying in 2003.

4. Usher

After just two years of marriage, Usher and his wife, Grace Miguel, have mutually decided to go their separate ways.

While the couple may have only tied the knot in 2015, Usher and Miguel have been romantically linked since 2009 — around the same time that Usher was going through a divorce from his first wife, Tameka Foster, which also lasted two years.

While Miguel may not have the notoriety of her husband, she has long worked in the music industry, often behind the scenes at companies, including Geffen and Def Jam Records.

While the two do not have any children together, in a joint statement, Usher and Miguel said that “We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives.”

3. Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff

After five years together, the creator/star of the HBO series Girls and the lead singer of the Bleachers have decided to split up.

The couple, who first began dating in 2012 after being set up on a blind date by friends, are thought to have mutually broken up in December of last year. Dunham even briefly addressed the breakup during an Instagram Live stream, where she said that she will continue to wear a ring Antonoff gifted her despite no longer being in a relationship together.

The ups-and-downs of the dating world is something that Dunham seems well versed in, as she deftly explored the subject matter throughout the course of her six-season show. Maybe this new turn of events will serve as inspiration for one of Dunham’s upcoming projects.

2. Alicia Silverstone

Earlier this year, news broke that Alicia Silverstone star was separating from her husband of 13 years, Christopher Jarecki. Although they have been married since 2005, the couple has actually been romantically linked for two decades, meaning this breakup comes as a drastic change in the lives of both.

While the comedic actress is probably best known for her appearance in ‘90s films, including Clueless, Blast from the Bast, and Batman & Robin, she is already set to star in the upcoming sitcom American Woman. Meanwhile, Jarecki is a former musician who currently hosts his own radio show.

In a released statement, the two have said that the separation was mutual and that they will continue to work together to co-parent their son.

1. Fergie and Josh Duhamel

Fergie and Josh Duhamel first met back in 2004 when The Black Eyed Peas made an appearance on Duhamel’s NBC series Las Vegas. The couple began dating shortly thereafter and ended up tying the knot in 2009.

While their 13-year relationship was not without its ups-and-downs, everything seemed copacetic for the couple throughout the majority of 2017. Then in September, the duo released a statement that they had actually separated earlier that year and were planning on getting a divorce.

While the couple has been outspoken about their relationship problems in the past — including Duhamel’s accusations of cheating and attending couple’s therapy — exactly why they decided to finally call it quits remains to be seen.

While both stars may be venturing into the single world once again, they maintained that they’re still on good terms and have every intention of co-parenting their four-year-old son.
