Other interesting findings from a 1,000 survey on coffee consumption reveal that:

  • 26% of interviewees cited low-quality coffee as the reason why they would not return to a certain cafe.
  • 39% of people would wait 2 to 4 minutes for takeaway coffees and only 18% would wait for more than 6 minutes.
  • Coffee drinkers in regional areas value customer service more: 6% compared to 3% in metro cities.

5. 64% of customers said they would return to a cafe for their loyalty program. 

From the 1,000 coffee lovers surveyed, 41% stated that they want to be rewarded with a free coffee for a certain number of cups bought, much like some of the best VIP and discount reward clubs do. 30%, on the other hand,  would prefer to get loyalty points they can later redeem.

15. The coffee segment in Australia generated $7.7 billion in 2021.

Total revenue went up by 33.9% in 2021 after a significant decline the year before. Namely, due to Covid-19 lockdowns, 2020 revenue from the coffee industry in Australia dropped by 19.5 per cent compared to 2019 and stood at $6.3 billion.
